Lovin’ Cabo with the Kids – Family-Friendly Activities in Cabo

Cabo San Lucas, situated at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, is a destination known for its stunning beaches, exciting water sports, exhilarating desert activities, and vibrant nightlife. While it is known for its party scene, there are many fun, family-friendly activities to enjoy in and around Cabo. I have traveled here as a “single” in my 20’s and 30’s, when I was married with no kids, and every year since having kids.

Here are some of my top suggestions:

Beach Day: Spend a day at one of Cabo’s family-friendly beaches, such as Medano Beach or Chileno Beach. Enjoy swimming, building sandcastles, or simply or simply relaxing under the sun.

Whale Watching: Depending on the time of year, you might be able to take a whale-watching tour. Humpback whales, gray whales, and even blue whales can be spotted off the coast of Cabo during certain months. You can even see these majestic creatures breaching from many resorts’ lounge chairs.

Glass-Bottom Boat Tours: Take a glass-bottom boat tour to see the beautiful marine life and perhaps even some dolphins or tropical fish. Some tours also include snorkeling opportunities for families to explore the underwater world together.

El Arco de Cabo San Lucas: Take a boat tour to visit the famous natural rock formation, El Arco. Kids will be fascinated by the unique shapes of the rocks and the sea lions that often lounge nearby. If you have older children with you, consider kayaking out to the arch instead of taking a boat tour.

Cabo Dolphins: Visit Cabo Dolphins for an unforgettable experience of swimming and interacting with these intelligent creatures. There are options for various age groups and comfort levels.

Outdoor Adventure Parks: Explore family-friendly adventure parks like Wild Canyon or Cuadra San Francisco, where you can enjoy activities like zip-lining, camel rides, and even ATV tours. This is a must for any family that loves adventure!

Day Trips to Flora Farms: Take a short trip to Flora Farms, where you can enjoy farm-to-table dining, stroll through the gardens, and even participate in cooking workshops suitable for all ages.

Explore San Jose del Cabo: Visit the more laid-back sister city of Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo, to experience the local culture, shops, and galleries. The Art Walk in the historic district could be particularly engaging for the whole family. It’s like a little slice of heaven.

Cactus Botanical Gardens: Explore Wirikuta Botanical Cactus Garden to see a vast collection of different cactus species, including some impressive and rare specimens. It’s both educational and visually stunning.

Snorkeling and Scuba Diving: Take a family-friendly snorkeling or scuba diving tour to explore the vibrant marine life in the Sea of Cortez, known for its rich biodiversity and clear waters.

These activities should provide an exciting and memorable vacation for the entire family in Cabo San Lucas! Let us know what other amazing activities you uncover on your Cabo vacation!
